Underfloor heating with laminate flooring options

Home

More and more of us are looking at ways to heat our homes differently and more efficiently. The traditional systems of hot water radiators powered by a gas boiler are becoming a thing of the past. It’s generally accepted that our reliance on burning fossil fuels has to be vastly reduced, at the very least. Some say It should be halted altogether. Climate change, now more frequently referred to as the climate emergency so as to give it more public emphasis, is an ever present issue for all of us. This also translates to our ever growing energy bills, a reflection of the state of our energy supplies in general.

The best flooring to combine with underfloor heating is that of 12mm Laminate Wood Flooring like that offered by irwintiles.ie/wooden-flooring/laminate-flooring/12mm-laminate. The thick planks fit above the units very snugly and can transfer the warmth from the heating. Thicker planks can ensure that there is a much wider distribution of heat and the regulation of the warmth in to the room can be suitably controlled.

Underflooring heating runs on two basic types. The first is a similar hot water system that is not too dissimilar to a radiator. However, in this way the heat is used more efficiently. The other option is to use electrical coils creating resistance. As the coils heat up they generate warmth throughout the room from the floorboards up. Standard radiators place all the warm air in the ceiling away from those that need it most.
