Considering a golf holiday? They’re becoming big business for golf fans, but they’re also a great choice for couples where each person wants to do something slightly different. The key to finding the perfect venue lies in preparation, and that means booking well in advance!
How early should you plan a golf holiday?
To get the most choice, availability, and value, it’s best to book a golf holiday about ten months to a year in advance. It may sound like a long time, but you’ll find competition high, especially if you’re booking a golf hotel in the Cotswolds or other popular areas. The best golf hotel Cotswolds will also have other facilities such as spas, which can make it highly in demand by other types of visitors, so get in there early!
When to allow even longer
If you’re looking for a golf holiday at an iconic links course like Royal County Down or St Andrews, you may want to book up to 18 months in advance as the best tee times are hugely in demand. The peak season of May to September is another factor, but you’ll have a little more leeway in April and October, as these are shoulder season months and a little quieter. For an offseason golf holiday or a last-minute booking, around 2-3 months might be OK, but you will be restricted.
And if you’re booking with a group or in the summer holidays, ideally add an extra couple of months to your timescales. Better to have first pick!
